T: This study was conducted in Makang’wa Ward in Chamwino District, with aim of determining factors influencing non-medical male circumcision. Data collection methods were interview, focus group discussion, documentary review and observation. Analysis was done by using both descriptive and inferential statistics. Results indicate that preference for non-medical male circumcision for children was mainly caused by perception on self-identity and perceived low quality of medical based circumcision services. The study recommends that technical assistance and material support like preparing training courses relating to male circumcision, organizing safe male circumcision services should be provided to traditional male circumcisers (TC) through government, NGOs and CBOs. Awareness on the important of medical based male circumcision services should be promoted by private sectors and responsible ministry.en_US
